The 60 children wore maroon Para sweatshirts and on their backs the words “I am a Child of Freedom”, “Merci Dear Veteran”.
 They were Normans drawn from all the surrounding villages in the divisional area –
 Benouville (Pegasus Bridge), Ranville (DZ & LZ N), Le Mesnil, Salanelles, Amfreville, Varaville, Herouvillette, Escoville, Breville, Bure sur Dives, Troarn and Sannerville.
