Mr Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
STATUS OF MEMBERSHIP
Over the current reporting year recruiting has been encouraging; attracting eleven new members with many potential members ‘in the pipeline’. To those new members we say welcome the branch. The current status of membership is as follows:
|
Branch registered members |
413 |
|
Over 70 |
152 |
|
Branch members (non RE) |
32 |
|
Widows |
8 |
|
Annual Members |
14 |
Those of you who read our quarterly Newsletters have seen our list of new members. During my tenure we have seen the membership increase from 337 to 413, a rise of over 22%. Our current membership now makes our Branch possibly the largest in the Association.
On a sad note this year’s mailshot, to all known ex-surveyors on our database, revealed that several (not necessarily Branch members) had passed away in recent times. These are: Bernie Canon, Len Huson, Dr AR Robbins, Percy Chave, Wes Noble, Percy Chamberlain, Frank Smith, Arthur Broadribb, John Burrows, FT East, Chris Foden, Tom Forrester, RH Gibson, Brian St George Irwin, Tom Keleher, John Kingswell, George Owens, Anthony Poole, Bill Van-Orden and Les Buckwell.
However, their families have asked us to remember them in our prayers and I will publish a complete list in the autumn newsletter.
In conclusion I have the usual plea to the membership. I would be grateful if members could remember, please, to inform me of any change of address or e-mail address. The latter is particularly relevant as we do try any send out the quarterly newsletter electronically to keep down ever-rising costs.
And lastly, if you know of any ex-Military Surveyor who might like to join the Branch please ask him, or her, to contact the Secretary – we always welcome new members. I thank you.
