Our AGM & Reunion 2006

This is a personal view from your webmaster, Albie Field and I would love to have some more thoughts and photographs to add to it.

This was the first opportunity that I have had to attend due to personal reasons, to me it was a delight to meet with old friends and acquaintances, with one exception the most recent meeting was thirty two years ago in 1974 with many longer ago than that. Friday night in the Sergeants Mess lasted from 18:00 to 02:00 on Saturday (and I wonder why I had a thick head!) Many faces were instantly recognisable but some needed a bit of prompting with the same being the case throughout the weekend. Many of you will be familiar with the rebuild but for me it was the first time, I hope that there will be many more such occasions. The changes from 1974 are tremendous in both accommodation and equipment but I was disappointed that there were not more serving personnel around to socialise with, still we must blame the current situation for that.

I suppose that the biggest shock was that both Messes were "smoke free" indoors which accounts for the few photographs that I did take on Saturday are in the open air, what would have happened had we had inclement weather? I as an ex smoker was surprised how many still indulge in the dreaded weed (I wasn't tempted!!!)

Now I look forward to next year, let's hope for a bigger turnout.
