Great site. Is there also a site for Nat. Servicemen? I served with 42 Surv Eng Reg in Cyprus 1956/7 and would like to contact Sappers who were also there at that time.

Quite like the layout and purpose of this site and will, when I have a moment, pass some thoughts on '47', '19','13' and '42'. Hopefully some items which may not be generally remembered. Incidentally I remember a story about a driver nicknamed "Tempted" at 13 Sqn. Was anyone there at the time?

I have just made my first visit to the website and fin that it is largley aimed at surveyers and their squadrons. When I have attended AGMs I have felt a little left out, why you may ask, I was a National Serviceman and not a Boy entrant or a Regular. This stood out for me at Ewell when my Wife and spent the whole visit on our own. I did my basic at No4, trade training at the School and then on to 42 at Fayid. I was supposed to join 2AFSD but no vacancy existed on arrival, I was given the choice of RP or QM staff and I chose the latter. On returning home TA was with 135. All of this from Jan52/June58. I would like to know how many Ex N/S Men are members of the branch or how many non surveyers there are because I am sorry to say that one does get a feeling of a 'club culture'

I'm gobsmacked at the amount of detail on these pages. Memories 13 in particular! As someone who was drafted out to India in Jan 1945 and then had an individual posting to Advanced HQ ALFSEA in Barrackpore then on to No 2 ASLS in Colombo and Singapore I missed out on most of that.

I have been a happy user of the very interesting site, but in trying to access this visitor log I was frozen out as the Bromley web will not allow the use of the "VISITOR LOG" as this is seen by the politically correct brigade as a Chat Site. Someone in charge has given me a fix which I hope will be permanent............I shant hold my breath on this. The report on the AGM was very interesting but at the event it was a pity that more sappers were not there. Incidentally, as a former National Serviceman, a surveyor indeed, I find the tales very interesting and Albie, I will send you a couple of photos which I mentioned to you recently. I've just spent a happy half hour looking in 84 Memories. I was REME attached in KL 58/60 in the days of Ben Burrows and remember so many of the names mentioned. Particulary interesting was the photo of the coke machine which was behind my room (labelled rather grandly as 'REME Workshop'!) Ice cold coke saved my life many a morning - well I did run the Squadron bar in the end of the front basha! The photo with Don Dunne on - the tall lad next to him is, I think, a Scouse driver. I really loved my time with the Gentlemen of the Royal Engineers the best posting and unit i served in as a junior rank. Any communication from old 84's welcome. Sorry I can't join the REA but that's life! Ben was all for sending me to play for the RE Farelf rugger team though!
Well done Albie, great site. You have obviously put a lot of thought and work into it. Great looking at old photos and trying to put names to faces (alzheimers or old timers must be setting in). I now live in Australia and if anyone wants to get in touch my e-mail address is here.
Over the past few weeks I have kept re-visiting the site to see if I have missed anything. I have thoroughly enjoyed the photos of old times and have tried to send some comments and photos to you, but although my e-mail info indicates the message has been sent I am not convinced, perhaps you can let me know Albie. Incidently I have just read an e-mail dated 2nd May 2006 regarding 1962-63 visit to El Adem from Cyprus. One photo I have sent showing me using the tellurometer is El Adem circa 1962.
Made my first visit to your site having been made aware of it and alerted by
Streak that I was featured in some of Pete Smiths pin up photos, (legs and all).
I was impressed with the site and recognised a few names from the dim and
distant past, is it really 40 odd years. The site is a great idea, keep up the
good work
I found this site very interesting, a few names from the past recovered (I
was at aas Harrogate 50A. As an electrician app. Same company as surveyors. I
served in REME. I think your site is well laid out.
looking for photoes of aas harrogate....was intake of 50a
Great Website. Must look out some pics. (The email address has an underscore

I was overjoyed to come across the site and experience the pleasure of seeing
and reading about my one-time colleagues and friends. I now intend to spend some
time working through all the images and text after which I shall join the club
and hopefully contact some members. I am an ex-Boy and was in Survey from 1955
until 1970. John Coles
Congratulations on a fantastic site. All that is needed now is input from 47B Survey ATs at Harrogate. Come on lads lets hear from you.

I have very recently, by pure chance, come across a gentleman who did his
National Service as a Printer in 14 Squadron during 53-55. I had received an
e-mail from Noel with his new e-mail address. As I knew more than one Noel I
asked which one it was. During our subsequent conversation he told me of his
National Service. I have told him about the Branch and its website. Perhaps it
will bring another member. Does anyone remember Noel Frost in 14 Squadron ? Iam
sure he would be pleased to hear from anyone from the past. His e-mail address
